Beat the winter blahs with a 2-part stitching class!

In this 2-part class, you will hand-stitch and embellish a pouch to store jewelry, pencils, make-up and more.

Inspired by the beautiful book Wagashi: Handcrafted Fashion Art from Japan, by Kumiko Sudo, this project uses scraps of fabric, ribbon and beads to create a small and detailed work of art you’ll be proud to give as a gift. Even if you have never sewn before, you will learn easy sewing and beading techniques that you can use in other projects.

In session 1, students receive an introduction to Wagashi projects and learn how to cut out and assemble the different fabric components of the pouch.

In session 2, students embellish their pouches using beads and decorative stitches.

Dates: This class will be offered this winter at Studio 34 Creative Arts Learning Center:

• Feb 7 and 9,  4 - 8 PM
  

Cost: $60 (plus materials, see below)

Materials needed:

• Students can purchase pre-cut fabric/ribbon packs from The Tailored Nest for $20.
  

• Seed beads are available for purchase at Studio 34.
  

• Instructor will supply needles, thread, scissorles, and
  pattern templates.
